ZEROSION

“Because every 20 minute job is a corroded nut away from a 2 week ordeal.”

Zerosion (zear-rho-shun) Noun • A Portmanteau of the words Zero & Corrosion, relating to the revolutionary system of providing protection to metallic assets in a corrosive environment.

What is ZCD?

ZCD is a complete asset protection coating system, specifically engineered to provide corrosion defense and life extension to bolted joints, pipe flanges, valve assemblies,
complex shaped components and large structure within ATEX / Ex environments. The system provides long term protection and maintains the integrity of the complex shaped parts of your assets that are generally left to corrode or, are situated in an area where abrasive blasting would present an issue.

The ZCD ethos follows a simple remit:

what we do

State-of-the-art asset protection system

Specifically designed to combat corrosion and prolong the lifespan of bolted joints, complex components, and large structures in ATEX/Ex environments. Offering long-term protection, it preserves the integrity of parts often susceptible to corrosion or in areas where abrasive blasting is impractical.

Zerosion’s IP protected technology allows for easy removal and reapplication, ensuring continued defense of your assets during maintenance cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quickly find the answer to the most commonly asked questions about Zerosion corrosion defense systems.

What is ZCD and how does it differ from traditional corrosion protection systems?

ZCD (Zerosion Corrosion Defense) systems provide advanced, removable anti-corrosion coatings specifically designed for industrial assets such as flanges, pipelines, and metallic surfaces. Unlike traditional paint systems, ZCD coatings are cold-applied, hand-applied, and do not require abrasive blasting. The systems are designed to eliminate corrosion, provide long-term protection, and are easy to remove for maintenance purposes.

What are the Z-FP and Z-SP systems?

Z-FP (Flange Protection): A flexible, elastomeric coating designed to protect flanges, valve assemblies, and bolted joints. It encapsulates the surface to prevent electrolytic ingress and can be easily removed and reapplied when needed.

Z-SP (Surface Protection): A cold-applied coating system used on larger surfaces like pipelines, tanks, vessels, and roofs. It provides long-term protection and can be applied as a permanent or removable coating depending on the requirements.

Can ZCD be used in explosive or ATEX environments?

Yes, ZCD systems can be used in ATEX 1 environments because the application does not require external influence such as melting or heat, making it safe for use in explosive settings.

How do Z-FP and Z-SP protect against corrosion?

The ZCD systems function on two levels:

Active & Passive Corrosion Inhibitor (ACI & PCI): ACI neutralizes oxidation on the surface, effectively removing corrosion, while PCI prevents galvanic corrosion without harming the underlying substrate, seals, or gaskets.

Elastomeric Barrier: The coatings shrink around the surface upon application, creating a tight barrier that prevents electrolytic pathways, thus halting the corrosion process.

How are Z-FP and Z-SP applied?

Z-FP: Can be applied by hand without the need for abrasive blasting. The system is removable and can be reapplied after access or maintenance.

Z-SP: Applied using a roller or pole, without requiring ISO surface preparation or blasting. Both are cold-applied systems and can be handled by any trained technician.

Can Z-FP and Z-SP be applied over damaged paint or traditional coatings?

Yes, ZCD systems can be applied directly to surfaces with damaged or corroded paint. Simple surface preparation is sufficient to apply the systems, making it ideal for situations where blasting or extensive prep is not possible.

How long does Z-FP or Z-SP protection last?

Z-FP and Z-SP coatings are designed to provide up to 10 years of protection. When maintenance or inspection is needed, the coating can easily be peeled off and reapplied for continued protection.

Is Zerosion available internationally?

Yes, ZCD operates worldwide, with suppliers in the UK, USA, Canada, Holland, the Persian Gulf, Asia-Pacific, and more regions. We are continually expanding to other areas such as Europe and Australia.

What is the surface preparation required for Zerosion systems?

All ZCD “Z” series coatings have built-in corrosion inhibitors. Surface prep only requires removing loose material, dirt, and grease using a wire or brass brush. Deep scabs should be broken to expose moisture, then treated with Z-OE as a pre-treatment.

What is the pot life of the ZCD systems?

Opened container: Pot life can be up to 6 months if sealed properly.

Decanted material: Pot life is around a few hours, after which it thickens and eventually solidifies. Shelf life is 2 years.

How easy is the system to apply?

The system is easy to apply but has some nuances. Proper preparation and understanding of the application process are essential for success. It is important to understand shrink points and how the system works before starting the application.

How can I buy Zerosion?

Zerosion does not sell off-the-shelf, and we do not supply material to anyone who has not been specifically trained to use the coating. Zerosion is easy to apply and easy to prepare, but it is there to protect your assets. You are trusting us, so we need to trust the application. Once you have trained application engineers, we can and will sell you all you need for long-term asset protection.
